Criteria 

Inclusion Criteria:

Diagnosis of Bipolar 1 Disorder;
Hospitalized or in the process of being hospitalized for a manic or mixed episode

Exclusion Criteria:

History of rapid cycling;
History of hypersensitivity or adverse reaction to lithium
